This is an excellent compilation for what it takes to indie-pub a picture book. When you see the cost breakdown, you'll understand why so many authors do crowdfunding and kickstarter programs.

I've heard the "Rule of 3" in writing kids picture books to have the child overcome 3 obstacles and come to a conclusion; but this shows it's more than that and refers to novels as well.
