Around the Web: Best Posts on Writing I've Discovered This Week

I subscribe to and follow several authors, blogs, and writing sources throughout
the week.

Each Friday, I include links to FIVE sources to improve your writing that I found useful.

Here are my offerings for this week.

Hope they inspire you to start writing

and continue writing!

Here's a detailed edit/critique that is not for the thin skinned from Jerry Jenkins. He goes through this critique word by word. Take notes on what he says to remind not to do the same errors:

My first mentor for writing picture books often talked about writing non-fiction as a good way to stand out in an agent or publishers slush pile. With STEM books being ever popular, it makes a lot of sense. Read this post from Highlights about ways to pack more punch into those stories and get more readers: https://www.highlightsfoundation.org/13191/what-so-what-now-what-science-writing-that-stands-out/

If you write picture books to YA in fiction or non fiction, you might want to check out this publisher who has several imprints covering these areas: https://authorspublish.com/city-of-light-publishing-now-accepting-manuscript-submissions/

Here's a good checklist with details of common grammar errors to remind you of  how not to write: https://prowritingaid.com/bad-grammar

A writing career is not just about writing that ONE book. It's about thinking forward and getting your brain amped to create more stories to fill in the space while waiting for book sales to come in:
